"Jurassic World" star Nick Robinson is in negotiations to star in Fox 2000's coming-of-age story "Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda." "Green Lantern" producer Greg Berlanti is being helmed on it.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda" is an adaptation of Becky Albertalli's 2015 book of the same name. There are no reports yet on the role of Robinson since the project is still in development.
"Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda" follows a gay teen taking an unusual approach to come out to his classmates. The gay teen sent an email to a strange boy. However, the email falls into the wrong hands resulting to his complicated situation as he was blackmailed by the class town, Variety reported.
"The Neighbors" producers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger are writing the script of "Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda." Temple Hill, which is the company behind the hit book adaptations "The Fault in Our Stars" and "The Maze Runner," is producing it along with Pouya Shahbazian's New Leaf Literary & Media.
Robinson is expected to return for the "Jurassic World" sequel set to be released in 2018. He also starred in Jordan Vogt-Roberts' adventure drama "The Kings of Summer" along with J Blakeson's adventure sci-fi "The 5th Wave" opposite "The Equalizer" actress Chloe Moretz. The rising star has wrapped work on Stella Meghie's drama "Everything, Everything" with "The Hunger Games" actress Amandla Stenberg, which is set to be released on May 19.
Robinson is quickly becoming one of Hollywood's most in-demand young actors and was featured on The Hollywood Reporter's recent Next Gen Talent list. He is represented by UTA, Savage Agency, Principato-Young Entertainment, and Felker Toczek.
The studio began the development of "Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda" movie adaptation in October 2016 after it picked movie rights to Albertalli's book.
