"Constantine" is officially getting resurrected. The cancelled NBC drama starring Matt Ryan will move forward as an animated series with Arrowverse boss Greg Berlanti attached to produce.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan is set to reprise his title role on the animated version which will be composed of five to six 10-minute episodes. Berlanti will be joined by David Goyer, who co-created and executive produced the original NBC series. The news was announced Sunday at the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour.

The animated series has been set to premiere on the CW Seed's 2017-18 TV season.

After getting cancelled in May 2015 for dull ratings, Matt Ryan made a crossover appearance as Constantine in "Arrow." As to whether or not another crossover will take place in the future, CW boss Mark Pedowitz said during the panel that no plans have been made, while adding that he's interested to see Ryan revisit the role.

"Constantine" joins fellow DC animated series on the CW Seed such as "Vixen" and "Justice League." The digital channel is also currently streaming all 13 episodes of Constantine's freshman season.

To whet the fans' appetite, a poster was also unveiled during the panel featuring Constantine front and center. Check out the official keyart below:

In the DC comics lore, John Constantine debuted in 1985 as a lead character of the comics, Hellblazer. He is known as a British cynic who struggles with faith and uses sorcery to combat his enemies in the dark underworld. The character was created by John Totleben, Steve Bissetter and Alan Moore.

Additionally, the CW network has also renewed seven of its scripted series for the 2017-18 TV season, including "Arrow," "The Flash," "Supergirl," "Legends of Tomorrow," "Supernatural," "Jane the Virgin" and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend." The fate of midseason shows such as "The Originals," "iZombie," and "Riverdale" is yet to be determined.
