"Shadowhunters" Season 2 brings Clary and Simon closer together again. Actress Katherine McNamara said that the pair strenghens their friendship as they learn more about their new abilities.
McNamara recently teased some "Shadowhunters" Season 2 spoilers in a recent interview. She addressed speculations that Simon and Clary might become romantically involved in the instalment. After all, Season 1 revealed that Jace (Dominic Sherwood) and Clary are siblings.
McNamara, who plays Clary Fray, did not confirm the speculations. Instead, she revealed that in the "Shadowhunters" Season 2, Clary and Simon strengthen their friendship. They further bond together, because of their newly acquired skills.
"They're learning how to handle their new abilities and how to find their place in this world, and it brings them closer together again. It's nice to see that friendship again," McNamara said as quoted by Screener TV.
In the same interview, McNamara addressed questions whether Simon will finally have the courage to confess his feelings for Clary in the "Shadowunters" Season 2. The newly turned vampire now has the chance to open up to his best friend, especially with Jace Wayland out of the picture. However, the former "Happyland" actress only said "we'll see" in response.
Nonetheless, Alberto Rosende hinted that his character has a new love interest in the "Shadowhunters" Season 2. Simon becomes close to a new werewolf named Maia (Alisha Wainwright). Rosende told Hypable that Simon and Maia immediately form a bond since they both share the same predicament.
Rosende said that Simon finds comfort in Maia since she can relate to his feelings and his experiences. They both used to live a normal life, but then suddenly forced to live in the Shadow World.
Unfortunately, Maia also creates a problem for Simon and Clary's relationship. Her closeness to Simon naturally builds a tension between the best friends in the "Shadowhunters" Season 2. Regardless, Rosende hinted that Simon sticks close to Maia since she knows a lot about the Downworld.
