After G-Dragon and Sandara Park went viral for being spotted together at the end of BIGBANG's concert in their "0.TO.10 tour" in the Gocheok Sky Dome, YG immediately came out with a statement denying any dating rumors between the two.
Footage caught by fans showed the two K-pop idols close together with G-Dragon and Dara side by side as they walked up to their vehicle. A YG representative immediately clarified the situation and stated "After a company dinner, G-Dragon requested to Dara, 'Let's try to get a picture taken of a pose like this,' as a joke.' It was a joke that turned into a dating rumor. They are not dating," as per Allkpop.
Some netizens didn't take the official statement at its word and expressed their dissatisfaction at the unconvincing excuse, according to PopCrush. But while majority of their fans were excited at the prospect of the two of them dating each other, netizens have commented that it looked more like G-Dragon was protecting Dara from the crowd by hugging her very close to his side.
G-Dragon and Dara are known to be good friends and it's not too far-fetched of an idea for the two of them to stage a joke. The two have been spotted in group selcas together, and there are plenty of anecdotes among fans about G-Dragon and Dara's encounters.
While lots of fans shipping the two might get disappointed with YG's statement, it's good to see Dara going out and supporting her fellow labelmates. The "Missing Korea" actress has been out of the public eye for the most part since 2NE1's disbandment was announced. As for G-Dragon, he is rumored to be dating Japanese model Nana Komatsu and has been allegedly spotted on a date together in Tokyo as recently as last November 2016.
