Kyung Soo Jin, in an interview, said viewership ratings are not the only basis in considering the success of a drama. Hence, the actress said she is still proud of "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" despite of its low ratings.
After concluding on Jan. 11, "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" has maintained an average viewership rating of 5 percent as per Nielsen Korea. Kyung Soo Jin even revealed she often gets asked about the low ratings of the MBC drama despite its popularity.
"I got a lot of questions about that. But I think that viewership ratings are just a number. At first the audience seemed to be limited, but word got around," Kyung Soo Jin said as per Soompi.
The actress, who played as Si Ho in the drama, explained having several outlets to watch the drama may be a factor for its low ratings. "If you don't watch it when it airs, you can watch it on VOD or DMB," Kyung Soo Jin said.
She went on, "Rather than viewership ratings, I think it's important for a drama to leave an impression on the hearts of its viewers. In that sense, I was proud of "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo.""
Reports added it was not easy for Kyung Soo Jin to play as a gymnast in the drama series; however, the actress added she enjoyed working with people of her age. She also commended Lee Sung Kyung and Nam Joo Hyuk for their dedication in acting.
On the other hand, Lee Sung Kyung and Nam Joo Hyuk admitted they were like a family on the set of "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo," Allkpop cited. The actors even revealed they got emotional during the last day of filming for the MBC drama.
Despite the low ratings, the actors are hopeful that they have touched the hearts of its viewers. Lee Sung Kyung, Nam Joo Hyuk and Kyung Soo Jin also extended their gratitude towards people who supported "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" since it started.
