Although it was a happy ending for Kim Bok Joo and Jung Joon Hyung on "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo," the two lead actors could not hide their sadness after the drama series concluded on Jan.11.
Lee Sung Kyung, who played as the gifted weightlifter, admitted she was too caught up with her emotions to even finish watching the last episode of "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo.," Allkpop cited.
"I couldn't watch the broadcast because I was busy crying. I cried my eyes out throughout the broadcast because I was upset," she said in an interview.
The actress added she even cried when the director told them there were two cuts left before wrapping up the MBC drama series. Lee Sung Kyung also revealed it was only the second time she cried after a project concluded, stating that "It's Okay, That's Love" was the first.
"They were all productions of healing to me. I'm not empathetic, so I tend to return calm even when I feel like tears are going to fall out. I cried a lot during the last episode. When I woke up, my eyes were like sausages," Lee Sung Kyung shared.
She continued this was the first time she was given too much attention for a role she has played. Lee Sung Kyung admitted she never had encouraging reports for her previous projects until playing the lead role on "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo."
Despite earning low ratings, the 26-year-old actress is still thankful to be given the chance to take part on "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo."
Aside from earning the praises of the audience, Lee Sung Kyung also felt the love of her friends who served as her support system. She said actors Lee Jong Suk and Yoon Kyun Sang have always been there to give her words of encouragement, Soompi cited.
"They gave me strength and compliments about how Bok Joo is so cute and lovely," the actress revealed.
She even admitted she felt sorry for Lee Jong Suk who even made an appearance on "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" and had to be photographed so much on the set while filming his scene. Watch Lee Sung Kyung and Lee Jong Suk's scene below:
