The 'nook' is a wireless reader which will be available on Barnes & Noble's Web site and in stores and is currently available for 'pre-order' for $259. The 'nook' is less than 5 inches wide and 8 inches tall and weighs 11.2 ounces. At $259 it will be the same price as the recently reduced Kindle by Amazon.

Barnes and Noble quietly recalled its new Nook tablet in two months after release. However, the company has not made official announcement regarding the reason for recall.

The news of recall was revealed by ZDNet on Saturday, Jan. 14. The recall was a major setback in battle against its competitor the popular Amazon Kindle Fire tablet. The recall was initiated presumabley because of its faulty chargers

After breaking up with Samsung, Barnes and Noble sought a cheaper manufacturer to sell their Nook tablet at the cheapest price. However with the new manufacturers, troubles began to surface. Their latest device which was sold at $50 was infected with ADUPS malware which send the users data to the hackers.

Its Chinese manufacturers were reported to try to remove the malware unsuccessfully. The similar device which was infected by the malware now was recalled with a possible charger problem.

In order to eliminate the problem, according to 9to5 Google, Barnes and Noble delivered memo to its employees and store managers to send back the existing inventory of the Nook Tablet 7″ back to corporate. The company didn’t provide explanation regarding the decision.

Curently Nook Tablet 7″ is listed “not available” in online stores. Insufficient information regarding the recall has made employees are unable to answer customers inquiry for the reason of the unavailibility of the product.

Barnes and Noble has been trying very hard to compete with Amazon Kindle Fire in the ebook reader market. They ended their partnership with Samsung and look for cheaper manufacturer in China. The company was able to reduce its production cost to sell the new Nook tablet at very cheap price of $50, but the product quality is very poor.

Within days after the launching, the new Nook 7 had a problen in its firmware. Efforts to eliminate the malware was reported not working well. Now, Barnes and Noble may have to return to Samsung as partner for next Nook device.
