CLC is back with a new music video of "Hobglobin." The MV features an entirely different concept.
On Jan. 17, the group released a new full video of their new song "Hobglobin." Cube Entertainment's Hyuna, written the song in part.
"Hobglobin" is the title track of the group's comeback album "CRYSTYLE." For this comeback song, CLC's concept is a 180-degree spin on their former cute image, as they portray a more fierce look in the MV, with wielding bats and looking like a force to reckoned with, Soompi reported.
Earlier, the group appeared on Naver's "V App" for the countdown of their new song. During the broadcast, CLC mentioned that they received a lot of help from their label mate and mentor Hyuna.
Introducing their song, the group said, "It is an EDM trap dance song where we magically entice love ones. It's a song where you unconsciously sway your body and sing along to the beat," as per Allkpop.
The group continued that if female hobgoblin exists, it would be Hyuna. The 24-year old singer is helped the group in the overall creation of the song from their hairstyle, makeup, including the gestures and choreo.
CLC also revealed that Hyuna coach one of the specifically. The group also expressed their utmost gratitude to their label mate.
"Hobgoblin" is folktale term which specifically describe a mischievous spirit. In the book "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by Shakespeare, one of the character, Puck, was identified as a hobgoblin.
One interpretations derives "hob" from the Welsh, which signifies "hearth," and therefore, a household fairy. Others believe that "Hob" is simply rustic name for the countryside goblin "a piece of rude familiarity to cover up uncertainty or fear."
Meanwhile, the group CLC was formed by Cube Entertainment in 2015 with seven members. CLC is an abbreviation which stands for "Crystal Clear." In the same year, the group debuted with the release of their first EP "First Love" promoting the title track "Pepe."
