Speculations are rife that Kylo Ren eventually turns to the light side of The Force in "Star Wars: Episode 8" because of Princess Leia Organa. The general's death reportedly becomes a catalyst for the villain to turn good.
According to reports, Princess Leia's (Carrie Fisher) death likely triggers Kylo Ren's transformation. Movie Web claims that following her death, Kylo (Adam Driver) then changes his name to Ben Organa, which could be a hint to his turn to the light side of The Force.
However, it is unclear when Leia dies, whether it is in "Star Wars: Episode 8" or in "Star Wars: Episode 9." Lucasfilm recently confirmed that CGI will not be used to replace Fisher's appearance in episode 9, so it is likely that she is still alive in episode 8.
Likewise, the publication claimed that Princess Leia has two major scenes in "Star Wars: Episode 8." The first one is her reunion with her brother, the Jedi Master Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). The second involves her meeting with Kylo Ren, which fans by now know is her son with Han Solo (Harrison Ford).
It is still unclear what happens during her reunion with Kylo. However, the site teased their meeting is very intense. Perhaps too intense that it prompts the villain to turn to the good side.
Meanwhile, Driver also teased his character's transformation in an interview with Larry King. According to Uproxx, the "Girls" actor hinted that Kylo eventually abandons the dark side of The Force in "Star Wars: Episode 8."
King reportedly asked the actor about what fans can expect from Kylo in the sequel. Driver answered that fans will see more of Kylo's humanity in "Star Wars: Episode 8." His answer is clearly a hint that the villain turns to the good side in the movie. However, it is uncertain if his transformation comes from Princess Leia's death or not.
