A new K-pop couple has emerged in the form of BoA and Joo Won. Representatives of both stars confirm that BoA and Joo Won dating started since late 2016.
Shortly after a local media outlet reported about BoA and Joo Won dating, their respective agencies issued a statement confirming their relationship. Huayi Brothers, Joo Won's agency, said, "Joo Won is in a relationship with BoA. We did not check in-depth with Joo Won since it is a personal matter,"
SM Entertainment also followed up with a statement saying that the couple grew closer to one another because of their shared interest in music and acting, Koreaboo reported. According to reports, BoA and Joo Won started out as casual friends and later developed feelings for each other after attending a particular event. This event is presumed to be the movie premiere for "Venus Talk," in which Joo Won appeared in a starring role while BoA made a cameo appearance.
It is said that BoA and Joo Won got to know each other through a mutual friend. It is believed by fans that this mutual friend is none other than TVXQ's Yunho, allkpop reported. BoA and Yunho are both managed by SM Entertainment and have been friends for over a decade. As proof of their closeness, BoA even visited Yunho in the military.
On the other hand, Joo Won admitted in an interview that he's close with Yunho, whom he fondly calls "hyung" (big brother). Interestingly Joo Won has always been a huge fan of BoA even before they became acquaintances.
A source close to the couple described the couple as "heartwarming" and that they match each other well due to their similarities in interests and values. The couple, who prefers to date under the radar, often make their friends jealous of the kind of relationship and closeness that they have.
