The latest in the DC Extended Universe and the very first female superhero to hit the big screen is almost here with "Wonder Woman" at the helm. The movie's ultimate villain was revealed, but the biggest news is that an insider, who has seen the movie, says it's a disaster just like its preceding DC movies. Despite that, the movie will earn big at the box office and here's why.
Both "Batman v Superman" and "Suicide Squad" were horribly made, film-wise. Nevertheless, it never stopped any excited moviegoer to see them in the big screen. Why? That's because people just want to see the live action versions of their favorite DC heroes.
Sure the screenplays and the movie elements were not as seamless as "The Avengers" or "Deadpool". But let's not forget, DC Extended Universe has their super weapon: Batman or Bruce Wayne - the most popular superhero of all time, according to a list made both by Comic Book. He was both inside the "Justice League" and of course, the "Batman v Superman" movies.
If people are still wondering why the DC movies are hugely successful despite hollow plots, Batman is the answer. He remains to be the undisputed and most popular superhero of all time and people go to the theaters over and over because of him. While his appearance is not expected in the "Wonder Woman" movie, the mere fact that they're associated through an alliance called "Justice League", "Wonder Woman" will fare well in the box office.
Going back to the villains set to appear in the "Wonder Woman" movie, it was speculated that Ares, the Greek God of discord, will be the movie's main villain, Slash Film reported. He could not be seen in the trailer, what with Danny Huston being pegged to the villain role. However, since the gods can disguise themselves well in plain sight, speculations seem to point that Danny Huston is Ares, kinda like Gellert Grindelwald disguising himself as Percival Graves, (seriously, what's with Warner Bros and disguises?).
Wonder Woman will not be in theaters until 2 June 2017. So if the studio wants to leave a good impression upon viewers with the very first female superhero movie, they still have time to straighten things up.
