Facebook inbox has undergone yet another revamp and now resembles more of a messenger style app but users are not accepting the changes.
Facebook seems to have started 2017 on a positive note by announcing that it had more than one billion users for its messenger application. Most of these people are using the application primarily on the mobile and occasionally on desktop.
The migration to a new interface has also introduced a bevy of features for the desktop users. This includes the ability to send stickers, engage in video chat, etc.
What's more is that the change has already been floated across various users indicating the adaptation may be well beyond the beta version. Nevertheless, Facebook is yet to make an official announcement about the change.
The old Facebook inbox icon is now replaced with a blue messenger icon. The upgraded version allows users to search their chats more easily, BGR reported.
Not just search, the new features will allow users to colour their chats to keep track of specific conversations. It also allows users to edit nicknames. Names appearing in the messenger are already linked to Facebook profile.
The subtle changes in the user interface are aimed towards ensuring a better overall usage experience. Other messenger options are seen in the dropdown available on the settings icon, Tech Crunch reported.
Facebook's mobile messenger application is amongst the top ranking tools being used across the globe. The web version for desktop is a complimentary set-up. With the new features included, it is likely to gain more popularity among the desktop users as well.
Future plans for messenger also include directory of bots that will help developers improve the messenger platform using technologies like A.I. From the looks of it, Facebook seems to be working hard to develop messenger into a social media platform of its own instead of restricting its functionality to a mere chat app.
Rumor has it that Facebook has also been toying with the idea of introducing a Mac app for messenger. However, Facebook has not made any formal announcements till date.
