Rain and Kim Tae Hee surprised fans when photos of their secret wedding were revealed, which took place on Jan. 19. The wedding came as a shock as the couple initially announced that they would be wed on Feb. 19.
Rain and Kim Tae Hee said their I do's in a Catholic ceremony at the Gaoe Catholic Church. According to Koreaboo J.Y. Park, PSY, g.o.d's Park Jun Hyung and Honey Lee were among the many celebrities that attended the wedding. No other celebrities were reportedly spotted.
The ceremony was an intimate and private gathering, with only close friends and family members invited. The time and place was announced only on the morning of the Rain and Kim Tae Hee's wedding day. The wedding ceremony was very simple and modest, a concept the couple decided on in light of the current situation in South Korea.
Several security personnel heavily guarded the premises. However, this did not prevent fans and reporters from swarming outside the venue to take a good glimpse at the highly-awaited union of two of K-Pop's brightest stars.
After the wedding, Rain and Kim Tae Hee wrote letters to their fans to thank them for all their support. "Today is the first day of the long journey ahead of the two of us, and I would like the first step with the blessing of all of our fans who have loved and cherished us," Kim Tae Hee's letter reads, as translated by Koreaboo.
In his letter, Rain expressed his admiration for his wife, Kim Tae Hee, thanking her for always being there for him through the happy times and the sad. "Our trust and love for each other is as strong as ever, and we've decided to take the leap," Rain wrote.
Rain and Kim Tae Hee first started dating in 2012 after they filmed together for a commercial. Kim Tae Hee is a devout Catholic. Rain was baptized in 2014, which led many to believe that the couple was planning to get married.
