The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Detroit Pistons are rumored to have an ongoing to deal for a potential NBA trade. Ricky Rubio and Reggie Jackson are both involved in the trade rumor, but as Stan Van Gundy said, the trade is not going to happen.
In a report made by the Forbes, the Pistons and the Timberwolves are rumored to have a discussion for a trade. While Reggie Jackson and Ricky Rubio was involved on the rumored trade, the Clipppers are also making a move to acquire PJ Tucker as the report said.
The Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy immediately responded to the trade rumor and confirmed that the trade is not going to happen. Van Gundy personally texted Jackson and confirmed that the Pistons will not trade him out.
The ESPN reported that Van Gundy admitted that the trade was eventually discussed, but with some considerations, the team needs Jackson more than any player offered to them. With this Reggie Jackson will remain part of the Pistons for the rest of the season.
On the other hand, the Timberwolves is reportedly shopping Ricky Rubio as the team is now utilizing the rookie point guard Kris Dunn. Dunn is now playing more minutes than Rubio and has been more effective in the past couple of games.
ESPN also confirmed that the Timberwolves are tying up Shabazz Muhammad along with Ricky Rubio to entice several teams to offer. Aside from team rotation, the T'Wolves also wants to get rid of Rubio's $29 million over 2 years to open up their salary cap for future purposes.
Meanwhile, Ricky Rubio has left the Timberwolves this weekend due to personal reasons. Rubio is expected to miss a couple of games that includes their contest against the Nuggets.
Ricky Rubio was last seen in action last Thursday, leaving the court in the first half against the Los Angeles Clippers. Kriss Dunn takes over the playmaking role as they beat the Clippers 104 - 101.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are serious to deal Rubio out of the club. Possibly before the trade deadline these February 23, Ricky Rubio will be wearing a new color of uniform.
