FOX's hit series, "Lucifer," is set to introduce God in the back half of Season 2.
According to Entertainment Weekly, producers of the Tom Ellis-starred series have cast "Psych" alum Timothy Omundson to play the holy character in an upcoming episode slated to air in spring. The upcoming hour will introduce Omundson as God Johnson, a charming patient in a psychiatric hospital - who believes that he's in fact, the creator of heaven and earth.
In the episode, a baffled Lucifer will try to prove that he's a faux. But Lucifer will later discover that God Johnson actually know things about him. It's unclear at this point if Omundson's character is the real deal as he's only booked for a single episode. Fans will have to lookout for more clues when FOX finally airs the episode.
Omundson, who also recently starred on ABC's "Galavant," joins previously cast guest star Tim DeKay on Lucifer Season 2. According to TV Line, DeKay's character was first introduced on the show's Jan. 16th installment as a new adversary for Lucifer. He is set to stick around for two more episodes.
This week's episode of "Lucifer" titled "Love Handles" will find Lucifer and Chloe investigating a mysterious masked killer who is poisoning college students. They also try to make sense of their new relationship, after a long-awaited kiss. Meanwhile, Charlotte visits Linda for advice on a touchy subject.
Based on the DC Comics, the series follows Lucifer Morningstar aka the Lord of Hell, who resigns and abandons his kingdom for an exciting life in Los Angeles. It also stars Lauren German, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Scarlett Estevez and Rachael Harris as Linda Martin.
"Lucifer" is set to take a hiatus break until May 1 after airing two original episodes. It currently airs every Monday at 9PM on FOX.
