Users of the popular NeoGAF forums have crowned it "Game of the Year," alongside 36 other honorable mentions. This marks the continued recognition of the franchise for its innovative storytelling and immersive gameplay experience.
What the NeoGAF poll results showed
The NeoGAF poll, which is an annual ranking among video gamers since 2004, serves to recognize the best video games of the year. The games span different consoles and genres, though there are also subcategories recognizing top-notch games in their respective gaming niches.
This year, "Uncharted 4" garnered 1964 points as the NeoGAF's "Game of the Year." Users have praised it as a "beautiful example of the medium," saying that even though the game is most usually known for its heartrending story arc, it's also exceled in the level of detail, pacing and visuals, according to NeoGAF. Most of them also recognized "Uncharted 4" as the best Uncharted game ever.
Apart from that, "Uncharted 4" also swept the title "Adventure Game of the Year," as well as "PS4 Game of the Year," the same report stated.
"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" is the fourth installment to the adventures of Nathan and Sam Drake, two bounty hunters in search of forbidden treasure. In this fourth sequel, the two Drake siblings reunite to find the fabled Henry Avery treasure, according to the official "Uncharted" website.
Other top-ranking games
Other top-ranking games, according to Dual Shocker, included "Doom," a first-person adventure, with 1,776 points and 35 honorable mentions; "Overwatch," another FPS, with 1,607 points and 25 honorable mentions, "Dark Souls III," an RPG with 1,393 points and 8 honorable mentions; and Final Fantasy XV, another RPG with 969 points and 31 honorable mentions.
Some unexpected titles also appeared on the list alongside "Uncharted 4," such as the PS4 title "Ratchet and Clank" with 581 points and 32 honorable mentions; Nintendo-based "Pokemon Sun and Moon" with 508 points and 17 honorable mentions; "Civilizatin VI" with 184 points and 14 honorable mentions; and popular smartphone game "Pokemon Go" with 155 points and 18 honorable mentions.
