"The Punisher" star Thomas Jane joins "Logan" actor Boyd Holbrook in Shane Black's "Predator" movie. The upcoming Fox's reboot of the science-fiction action franchise will be directed by Black.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, details for Jane's role in "Predator" were not revealed as the production is furiously casting up. "This is Us" actor Sterling K. Brown, "Key & Peele" actor Keegan-Michael Key, "X-Men: Apocalypse" actress Olivia Munn, and "Moonlight" actor Trevante Rhodes are the recent additions to the call sheet.
Holbrook is leading an ensemble cast in "Predator." He plays the main villain in the upcoming third Wolverine film "Logan," opposite Hugh Jackman, IGN reported. "Sicario" star Benicio del Toro was first attached to film Holbrook's character but was replaced due to a scheduling conflict.
The story of "Predator" features an array of the alien hunters but this time in a more domestic setting. It was first seen in the 1987 movie of the same name starring "The Expendables" actor Arnold Schwarzenegger. For Jane, it is also the first studio movie in quite some time.
John McTiernan directed the original "Predator," which was followed by a direct sequel "Predator 2." In 1990, Fox's "Alien" franchise crossed over for two additional sequels "Alien vs. Predator" and "Alien vs. Predator: Requiem." In 2010, Nimrod Antal directed a reboot with the new feature "Predators."
Jane recently finished Netflix's upcoming movie "1922," which is based on Stephen King's novella of the same name, and is currently filming "Miles" for Lakeshore Entertainment and Open Road Films. He is best known for starring on HBO's drama "Hung" from 2009 to 2011 and for his role in the action pic "The Punisher," which is based on Marvel Comic's antihero. He is represented by Paradigm and Ziffren Brittenham.
"Predator" heads towards a production start in February in Vancouver and will be released in theaters on Feb. 9, 2018.
