"Star Trek Discovery" release date is once again unknown as the hit sci-fi series' original premiere schedule gets cancelled.

According to Digital Trends, the next installment of the "Star Trek" franchise cannot follow its original schedule, which should initially be in May. As explained by the CBS, "We love the cast, the scripts and are excited about the world the producers have created. This is an ambitious project; we will be flexible on a launch date if it's best for the show."

Accordingly, in the "Star Trek Discovery," the Starfleet team will embark on new journey and discovery as they have a new space ship called U.S.S. Discovery. As everyone who might have watched the 2016 "Star Trek," the Enterprise was completely destroyed so there has to be a new ship, but still for the same mission: to explore new worlds.

CBS has not yet given the new release date for "Star Trek Discovery," but it announced that James Frain is now included in the roster of casts as Sarek, Spock's father.

In other news, according to Engadget, a settlement between the producers of the fan film Axanar, CBS and Paramount has finally come to its conclusion since its inception. The details of the agreement were not yet clear, but it is worthy to note that Axanar is still allowed to finish the film and release it for free, but with restrictions as to the substantial changes that may be disclosed. No payment for damages was also mentioned.

Axanar Productions have to abide by the official fan film guidelines, wherein the movie has to be 30 minutes long divided into two parts and it can't be titled "Star Trek." The production team cannot also use crowd funding and their professional talent cannot be compensated.

On a lighter note, Axanar is still allowed to have their professional casts reprise their roles. Although it is reiterated that for the production's future projects, no professional actors will be allowed and they have to strictly follow the fan film guidelines.
