"Deadpool" writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick told reporters that their box-office superhero movie hit will create a new universe with a more R-rated tone. This could mean that fans would soon see an "X-Force" movie that would resemble the badass movie on the merc with a mouth.
It seems like fans demand stand alone superhero movies now with the phenomenal hit movie "Deadpool" and the possible success of the upcoming "Logan." Fans are slowly getting tired of the same old tie ins to superhero movies that somehow bloats the story with so many plot points to connect more superhero movies. Now, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick reveal that "X-Force" is most likely to follow the tone and style of "Deadpool," Cinemablend reported.
Reese hopes to have their own universe, which is defined less by timelines and characters, but more by the tone, which is inclined to having an R-rating, The Hollywood Reported reported. He hopes that "X-Force" will be edgier and sillier. They want to establish a universe but focus on the individual movie without bringing plots that involves world destruction threats.
Reese acknowledged that "X-Men" is not as light as the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but is also not as dark as the movies from DC. He said that "X-Men" is something in between. Now that Reese and Wernick are very much involved in the creation of the upcoming "X-Force," they would definitely want it to have that "Deadpool" feel.
"X-Force" is about a black ops team composed of mutants who are bent on taking brutal violence against their enemies, which fits right in to whatever the genre of "Deadpool" is. The writers want the upcoming "X-Force" to open up an expanded "X-Men" universe without trying to tie them all up. They want the new movie to be self contained, humorous, and action-packed.
There are no official reports on the release date of "X-Force," but it is rumored that the team would be seen in action in "Deadpool 3." Cable and Domino, who are both part of the "X-Force" team will appear in the upcoming "Deadpool 2," which is expected for release in 2018.
