Ben Affleck's latest movie, "Live By Night," did not do well at the box office since it was released on Jan. 13. Critics started flocking it with real bad reviews earlier this week, especially when the sales loss went about $75 million.
Based on the review done by Variety, which is also one of the publications that the film industry based the standing of a certain movie project, "Live By Night," unfortunately was a failure. It is gangster story and it was all directed, produced and even written by "Gone Girl" actor, Ben Affleck.
He also starred on this one and it was out of passion that he created this project. Affleck's character is a gangster who runs a run business in Florida. The movie didn't satisfy the critic's taste, saying that it was produced inertly dramatic and even called it a muddle.

The studio behind this film's production, Warner Bros., just lost around $75 million in releasing it. The numbers are based on a very reliable source who has access to the financial department of the studio, as well as their rival studio executives.
In total, BBC reported that "Live By Night" made about $16.5 million internationally. That is still not a lot compared to the original budget that the studio gave to create and release it. Apparently, Ben Affleck's celebrity status didn't do any favors for the sales of his project.
Variety also added that period movies with lots of dialogues won't really gain a mass appeal, especially to international viewers. It will be hard to get the attention of the crowd if the movie is not exactly packed with lots of Hollywood A-listers. This is something that Affleck neglected. It cost $65 million to produce this movie and it all amount to nothing in the end.
