Following the success of "The Legend of the Blue Sea," Lee Min Ho has been rumored to enlist within the first quarter of this year. However, the Hallyu actor clarified the date for his upcoming enlistment.
A source affiliated with the actor said no specific date has been given to Lee Min Ho for his mandatory military duties up until now. "We are currently waiting for notification from the MMA (Military Manpower Administration)," an insider said as per Allkpop.
The source added, "As soon as the official date is given, he will be entering his military service. He is currently preparing for his fan meeting."
Last year, Lee Min Ho's agency revealed the actor will serve as a public service officer for his military duties. Although no further details were revealed, MYM Entertainment said they are eyeing for the enlistment this year as reported by Soompi.
Further reports stated it was decided that Lee Min Ho will serve as public service officer rather than an active duty soldier after the actor encountered a couple of car accidents in the past.
In 2006, Lee Min Ho suffered from a leg injury after a serious car crash. He encountered another car accident while filming for "City Hunter" in 2011. Hence, his history of physical injuries disqualified him from serving as an active duty soldier for his enlistment.
In a previous interview, the Hallyu actor admitted he has yet to decide when to start his military duties. Meanwhile, Lee Min Ho is scheduled to hold a two-day fan meeting event on Feb. 18 and 19.
His agency said tickets for the "The Originality of Lee Min Ho" instantly sold out after ticket sales were made public on Tuesday. The upcoming fan meeting expects to gather 6,000 fans at Kyunghee University in Seoul.
"Lee, known to have a deep affection towards his fans, will spice up the event showing a side of him that hasn't been revealed yet," MYM Entertainment teased fans.
The agency even revealed that the actor actively participates in the preparation for the upcoming fan meeting event despite his busy schedule.
