The Bollywood spotlight has once again turned to the ongoing divorce between estranged couple Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur. The latter filed a fresh petion for divorce along with a petition for custody of his children at the Bandra Family Court.
According to Mid Day, the court heard a series of allegations and counter claims put forward by Kapoor's team, headed by Kranti Sathe and Kapur's lawyer Priya Hingorani. Once the case was called up Sathe responded, that her client opposed the application filed by Kapur through his team for interim custody of the couple's two children.
Currently the couple's children, Kiaan Raj and Samaira are under the "Zubeidaa" star's care. While visitation rights have been permitted to Kapur, he alleges being prevented from seeing his children. His legal team claim this to be the reason behind the petition for custody.
Kapur, who was not in courts for the hearing, was represented by a lawyer in his team, who refused to comment on the case. The petition for custody of the children will be argued at the next court date in March. Meanwhile, Kapoor has yet to file a formal response to Kapur's fresh petition for a divorce.
The business magnate filed a new request for divorce after the couple mutually consented to withdrawing the previous petition. According to reports, Kapoor withdrew the petition on agreement that her husband would meet certain financial commitments, which she alleged that he failed to do.
When the family court heard Kapur's latest appeal, his legal team presented strong allegations that Kapoor failed to keep to her commitments, and further alleged that she had married her husband for his wealth.
The Delhi industrialist claimed, according to Bollywood Life, in his fresh petition for divorce that Kapoor was using visitation rights to his children, as a means for demanding money. It is reported that Kapur alleged that his wife denied his sickly father from seeing their children.
Adding to the existing tensions, Kapoor's father and popular Bollywood director Randhir Kapoor hit-out at Kapur through the media. The veteran film producer has reportedly confessed his initial apprehension of his daughter's marriage to the media for the first time.
