A new fantasy anime is coming out soon and it's called "Project Altair," which will be helmed by "Rurouni Kenshin" series director Kazuhiro Furuhashi at the studio MAPPA ("Yuri!!! on Ice"). Latest developments on the anime reveal that voice actor Junichi Suwabe (whose recent role is Victor Nikiforov from "Yuri!!! on Ice") will be joining the cast of the upcoming anime.
According to Crunchyroll, fan favorite Junichi Suwabe will play the part of Abiliga, one of the supporting characters to the main protagonist Tughril Mahmut. In addition to that, the official "Project Altair" website has announced that the studio will be celebrating the new cast addition by letting Suwabe host at the Animation Japan 2017 expo which is being held in March.
The Japanese voice actor will be present along with other of his fellow voice actors in the anime including Ayumu Murase, Makoto Furukawa, Katsuyuki Konishi, and Kenjiro Tsuda. Together they will be part of the Altair Project Special Stage event being held on Saturday evening (Mar. 25).
Anime fans would know Suwabe in other famous roles such as Keigo Atobe in "The Prince of Tennis," Grimmjow Jaegerjaques in "Bleach," Archer in "Fate/stay night," Ren Jinguji in "Uta no Prince-sama," Undertaker in "Black Butler," Daiki Aomine in "Kuroko's Basketball," Takashi Komuro in "Highschool of the Dead" and Dandy in "Space Dandy."
For those who want to know what the upcoming anime directed by "Rurouni Kenshin" series director Kazuhiro Furuhashi is all about, "Project Altair" is supposedly an adaptation of "Shoukoku no Altair," an adventure fantasy series by Kotono Katou. However, the official website and the Twitter account have not really explicitly stated it to be so, yet the project's visuals and title suggest otherwise, according to Anime News Network.
The story revolves around the aforementioned Tughril Mahmut, a young member of Türkiye Stratocracy's council who has a high position in the political and military world with the high ranking title of Pasha. The protagonist would have to deal with the council's division, with warmongers and pacifists causing it. The Türkiye Empire is also in the brink of war and it's up to Mahmut to keep the peace. The young Pasha would have to face varying challenges as he delves deeper into the troubling political world of the Empire.
