EXO, BTS, TWICE, generates value over 10 billion won in merchandise sales

EXO, BTS, and TWICE are bringing in a lot of money through merchandise products. Collaboration offers are also in the line not just from the music industry but also from the beauty, electronics, and household items industries.

Previously, French fashion and jewelry brand "Agatha Paris" launched suitcases which aims the global fandoms of the South Korean group EXO and BTS. Starting from the beginning of the product development process, the company had received endless calls from fans around the globe inquiring details about the products.

The products are priced more than 350,000 won ($305 USD), however, it was quickly sold out as soon as they were released last summer. EXO suitcases were characterized by a sophisticated and modern design featuring the members' initials and the rendition of the group's logo, Naver TV reported.

One EXO fan reportedly said, "I bought it to use as a treasure box to keep my other merchandise, but the quality of the product was actually very high. The initials on the suitcase were especially nice because it felt like a secret code between fans," as translated by Soompi.

This month, the BTS suitcases are expected to be released with a stylish design while maintaining its viability. A source from the product expressed, "The EXO suitcases last year were very successful, so this time we are preparing a full set containing a suitcase, backpack, and a hand cream."

Meanwhile, TWICE previously collaborated with LG Electronics to produce a Bluetooth speaker targeting male fans. The Bluetooth speaker is priced more than 100,000 won (approximately $87 USD), although the price is a bit high, consumers can get a signed CD if they pre-ordered the product.

The electronic company revealed that the product was sold out in just 50 minutes after they opened for pre-orders. And just recently, a Korean online shopping mall just restocked the products.

A source from the merchandising industry also revealed that a minimum amount of sales is guaranteed once you collaborate with idol groups. Although it still depends on the product, it is said that 5-10 percent fandom are guaranteed to buy the products. Since BTS, EXO, and TWICE's fandoms are very powerful, it is expected that the idol groups will generate a value of 10 billion won ($8.7 million USD).
