With a Chinese title "Zhu Xian: Qingyun Zhi," "The Legend of Chusen: Qingyun Zhi" is an upcoming Chinese drama series adapted from the online martial arts novel titled "Zhu Xian" by Xiao Ding. Known as one of the best martial arts novels since Jin Yong's era, the novel has a game version titled "Jade Dynasty."
The "Zhu Xian" novel has earned a huge fan base, which gives pressure to the drama series version, which is set to be aired on Hunan TV. It is yet to be seen if the drama series will follow "The Lost Tomb," which deviated from its original novel version.
Despite the criticisms it received from the fans of the original novel, "The Lost Tomb" managed to achieve high ratings.
Li Yifeng is the star of both "The Lost Tomb" and "Jade Dynasty" drama series. He will star with the Chinese male group TFBOYS in the latter.
In "The Legend of Chusen: Qingyun Zhi," Li plays the lead character Zhang Xiaofan also known as Gui Li. The female lead role Bi Yao will be played by Zanilia Zhao.
The role Bi Yao was originally offered to Angelababy. However, it was confirmed that she will not be in the upcoming drama series, according to Riel Box.
Wang Wanjuan is also in the cast of "The Legend of Chusen: Qingyun Zhi" playing Bi Yao's mother Xiao Chi. Tian Bu Yi will be played by Xie Ning and his daughter Tian Ling Er and wife Su Ru will be played by Tina Tang and Yang Ming Na, respectively.
Leon Lee will Fa Xiang, a disciple of Tian Yin Temple, while Lu Xingyu will play Cang Song Dao Ren, a Taoist. Other cast members include Yang Zi as Lu Xue Qi, Michael Qin as Ceng Shu Shu, Cheng Yi as Ling Jing Yu, Yi Yang Qian Xi as Xiao Qi, Xiong Nai Jin as You Ji, Wei Wei as Qing Long, Xie Ning as Tian Bu Yi, Jiang Hong as Shui Yue, Liu Xue Yi as Xiao Yi Cai, Mai Zi Jun as Qin Wu Yan, Chen Chuang as Ye Guo Dao Ren, Liang Jing Xian as Yan Hong and Jiao Jun Yan as Jin Ping Er, among others.
