The Cleveland Cavaliers hold a tryout last week for a point guard spot with 4-player candidate, but no one passed. Instead, the Cavaliers opted to sign Derrick Williams for a 10-day contract to fill up the big man position.

The Cavaliers have just signed the 2011 second overall pick to a 10-day contract as the team is now facing an injury-plague roster. After the Miami Heat waived Derrick Williams, the Cavaliers took advantage of his free agency as the team needs Williams' rebounding services, CBS Sports confirmed.

Last week, the Cavaliers held a tryout for a backup point guard position for Kyrie Irving. Unfortunately, the Cavaliers didn't pick one as they decided to acquire a big man to help Tristan Thompson, Channing Frye and Kevin Love in the front court.

The Cavaliers is currently suffering from injuries, according to the ESPN. Chris Andersen had a devastating season-ending injury last year, along with Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith, which are both currently in the rahab.

Derrick Williams is now playing with his co-rookie Kyrie Irving, where Williams was drafted second after the Cavs drafted Irving in 2011. Since then, Williams already played with 4 teams before he was acquired by the Cavs earlier this week.

Williams struggles to find his right position, as the cleveland.com said, Williams is somewhere in between a small forward and a power forward. Derrick Williams was ranked one of the below average players in the league, not even a reliable scorer and his defense are questionable ever since.

Meanwhile, Derrick Williams had a great season with the Knicks back in 2015-2016 season. Williams had a 9.3 points per contest while shooting in a career high 45 percent from the field. It has been said that the Cavs are hoping to see those performance in a 10-day stretch and will see if he is valuable enough to give a contract for the rest of the season.

It's been a tough season for the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers. Since the start of 2017, the team has found themselves with a very limited rotation due to the lack of players that can play a specific role for the team.
