After starring in the Asian Film Awards 2016 Best Film nominee "Mr. Six," Li Yifeng, 28, will star in the upcoming Chinese drama series "Sparrow." He will play one of the lead roles in the spy drama series, which will be aired on Hunan TV.
"Sparrow" is a spy drama based on the novel by Hai Fei, who will also be in charge of the scripts of the drama series adaptation. Li's character is an undercover agent with a mission to infiltrate the headquarters under Edward Zhang's character, who is his boss, according to Sina.
The female lead role is a romantic and temperamental woman who will be played by Zhou Dong Yu. The character will be married to Zhang Ruo Yun's character, who is against Li's character since the start of his secret spy mission.
Zhou's character is still a student in the beginning of the drama series. While married to Zhang's character, she is in love with the undercover agent played by Li.
Directed by Zhou Yuan Zhou and Chen Jin, the upcoming Hunan TV drama series "Sparrow" also stars Andrew Tam as a ruthless officer carrying out brutal acts but deep down he desires a warm love and Adi Kan as a female agent. Li Xiao Ran will appear as a guest actress playing the sister of Kan's character.
Filming for "Sparrow" started in July 2015. Before the upcoming Hunan TV drama series, Fiyeng starred in the 2015 drama series adaptation of the online novel "The Lost Tomb," which is also known as "Grave Robbers Chronicles and Grave Robbery Note."
In 2015, Fiyeng starred in the Chinese crime drama "Mr. Six," which was written by Dong Runnian and directed by Guan Hu. In the film, he played Xiao Bo, the son of Liu Ye played by Feng Xiaogang, who is nominated for Best Actor at the Asian Film Awards.
Feng's fellow nominees for the category are Hong Kong's "Ip Man 3" actor Donnie Yen, Japan's "An" actor Nagase Masatoshi, South Korea's "Inside Men" actor Lee Byung-hun and the Philippines' "Heneral Luna" actor John Arcilla. The winner will be announced on March 17 in Macau, according to Hollywood Reporter.
