Golden State Warriors will re-sign Briante Weber for another 10-day contract. The Warriors is intrigued with the point guard’s defensive skills after seeing him play in three games.
According to San Francisco Chronicle, The Warriors has confirmed to extend Weber’s contract for another 10 days. The team is intrigued to explore more capabilities of the 24-yeard old point guard. After he signed his first 10-day contract on Feb.4, he debuted in the 123-92 victory against Chicago Bulls four days later, posting two points, one assists and two rebounds in six minutes.
Weber has played in four games with the Warriors since he was signed. He has contributed 8 points, 4 assists, 2 steals and one block in 35 minutes total playing time. Well-known for his defensive trait, the Warriors may need him to toughen the back court.
He will have the opportunity to prove his worth in the next ten days for the Warriors as reported by CBS Sports. However, he is not guaranteed a playing time because the Warriors back court is already deep enough.
The 6'2" player played his college basketball with the Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011 to 2015. His defensive prowess had awarded him the Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team for three times in a row from 2013 to 2015. A fruitful professional career in the NBA had awaited him as he led the VCU Rams to become the elite team in the NCAA.
However, in his final year of college, he tore ACL muscle in his knee which made him off the court for months. As a result, he went undrafted in the 2015 NBA Draft before signed with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, an NBA D-League team affiliated with Miami Heat.
His defensive skill has attracted Golden State Warriors to sign him for the 10-day contract on Feb. 4. Watch his debut game with the Warriors against the Chicago Bulls on Feb. 8 below:
