Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has added another cast member to his upcoming wrestling drama "Fighting With My Family." "Hacksaw Ridge" actor Vince Vaughn has been confirmed as the latest addition to the film's cast.
The upcoming film is based on the life of the WWE star Paige and her family of professional wrestlers, and is written and directed by Stephen Merchant of "The Office" fame. Johnson will be involved in the project not only in an acting capacity but will also serve as a producer along with partner Dany Garcia under his Seven Bucks Productions banner, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Johnson confirmed Vaughn's casting in an Instagram post he shared on Feb. 14, Tuesday and revealed that the actor would be playing the role of a famous 80s wrestler in the film. However, the identity of the wrestling star remains unknown.
Vaughn is "playing a man who I know all too well and those of you who follow wrestling history know well too," EW quoted Johnson as saying. "The 80's wrestling star who squandered his money and opportunities because he didn't have the capacity to handle his fame. One bad decision after another, but these days he owns his past actions and does everything he can to give back to the wrestling business he loves."
"Fighting With My Family" revolves around a former gangster and wrestler, and his family, who make money by performing at small venues across the country. The parents wish for a better life for the children, and when the children are presented with the opportunity to audition for the WWE, they jump at the chance thinking that all their problems will be solved. However, the brother and sister realize that it takes a lot more than they expected to be a WWE superstar.
Johnson and Vaughn will be joined by Florence Pugh, Jack Lowden, Nick Frost and Lena Headey, whose casting was announced last week. For more details on this story, watch the video below:
