"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" has recruited Showgirls Gina Gershon to guest star in multiple episodes of Season 4.
According to a report from TV Line, Gershon has signed on to play the role of Sergeant Melanie Hawkins in the hit FOX comedy. Her character is described as a notoriously bad-ass cop who runs the NYPD's most elite task force. As to how she figures into the storyline, viewers will see Jake and Rosa competing against each other for an open spot on her task force, according to the site.
Gershon's recent TV credits include "Empire," "Red Oaks," "Elementary," "Rescue Me," "How to Make It in America," and "Z Nation." She's set to make her "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" debut when the show returns after hiatus on April 11.
In addition to Gershon, producers of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" has also tapped "Castle" vet Nathan Fillion to make a guest starring appearance in season 4. Entertainment Weekly reported that Fillion will play the character of Mark Devereaux, a star of a Law & Order-esque TV series titled "Serve & Protect."
The episode, slated to air this spring, will find Jake and Rosa investigating a crime that occurred on the Serve & Protect set. Fillion's character, Mark will show his interest to assist the detectives by drawing on his decade of experience playing a detective.
Greg Germann (Once Upon A Time) also guest stars in the half-hour episode as Serve & Protect's executive producer, Gary Lurmax.
In addition to his long time role on "Castle," Fillion has also recently appeared in episodes of "Modern Family" and "Santa Clarita Diet."
Co-created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" follows a diverse group of detectives in a precinct at the very edge of New York City. The series stars Andre Braugher, Andy Samberg, Chelsea Peretti, Joe Lo Truglio, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, and Terry Crews.
