"Pokémon GO" is easily one of the top mobile games to be released ever. The sheer magnitude of its popularity is backed up by millions of downloads within days after its release.
Since its official release in July 2016, the game's popularity have drop and many gaming analyst said that this is due to the lack of new content. Recently, several reports claim that "Pokémon GO" developer Niantic is planning to roll out a major update which will introduce new Pokémons into the game.
Niantic have kept its silence regarding this update, and has not even hinted regarding what to expect. Nevertheless, there are speculations claiming that at least 80 new Pokémon from Gold and Silver versions will be added. Specifically, these new Pokémons are those that can be found in the Johto region of the Gold and Silver Pokémon games. According to Time, among the expected Pokémons to make their official "Pokémon GO" debut are Totodile, Cyndaquil, and Chikorita.
Dubbed as "Pokémon GO Gen 2," the update will also introduce a handful of new gameplay mechanics. There are also rumors claiming that the update will feature a new encounter gameplay. This means that Pokémons encountered in the wild will react differently that they do now once the update is rolled out.
Another interesting addition that is rumored to come with the update are new flavor of berries. One berry, the Nanab Berry, slows the movement of a Pokémon making them easier to catch, according to Metro. The other one, Pinap Berry, doubles the amount of Candy a player receives if their next catch attempt is successful.
The Gen 2 update is also expected to include new avatars and an expanded wardrobe option. The update will give players the ability to customize their avatars by donning new hats, shirts, pants, and other customizable options.
