The Toronto Raptors have added Serge Ibaka on their roster as they are now preparing in the upcoming NBA Playoffs. Serge Ibaka was acquired from the Orlando Magic in the expense of Terence Ross.
The deal was made last Tuesday, February 14th as the ESPN confirmed, Serge Ibaka was sent to the Toronto Raptors. The Orlando Magic received the athletic-shooter Terence Ross along with a future first-round pick.
The Raptors are now excited as Serge Ibaka is expected to stop their sloppy performance in the rebounding department. The Raptors currently rank 25th in rebounding and has been a problem of the team for the past 2 years.
Serge Ibaka on the other hand is obviously excited that he is now back on a contending team. He was part of the so-called big three of the Oklahoma City Thunders for several years until the trio disbanded last off-season.
Ibaka's departure from the Thunder and his friends is known to be a factor in his declining performance with the Orlando Magic as per the Yahoo! Sports. The Magic claims that Serge Ibaka was last seen in the Oklahoma City Thunder and has been a liability on the defensive end during his days with the Magic.
Defense is the main strength of Serge Ibaka, as he was known to be a shot-deflector and an in-paint lockdown defender. Ibaka's great performance could be unleashed again since he is about to play on a contending team once again. The Raptors could be the team that Ibaka could play with for a long time, he is expected to fill the defensive floor along with his shooting skills that could definitely give a lot of troubles to the opposing teams.
Aside from the defensive end, Serge Ibaka is also scoring threat. With 15.1 points per game this season with the Magic, Ibaka defines what a true contributor is. Ibaka can stretch the floor due to his improved 3-point shooting, a perimeter threat with a skill under the basket.
Canadian fans are now excited to see their new front-man as Serge Ibaka is about to wear a white, red and black uniform for the first time in his NBA career. The North is really serious to send their crazy uproar in the upcoming NBA Playoffs.
