"Archer" will move to FXX for its 8th season and the latest trailer indicates that it's once again deviating from its agency problems for now. The upcoming season will feature a noir-type animated series that retains its silliness centered on its main character.
Sterling Archer Jumps to Sister Network
According to Deadline, the popular comedy animated TV series "Archer" is set to return but with FX's sister network FXX - a move similar to "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." But the series' return for another season will not be a direct follow-up to what happened at the end of the 7th season.
The storyline will change for the popular comedy series as it will set in the 40s and everyone is in a different role. According to Screencrush, Sterling is a private-eye working hard to find his partner's killer and while it looks like he is in a mission to find the murderer, he opens more than he could handle. Along the way are Malory, now portrayed as his arch-nemesis and Lana who now works as a singer with some very bad jokes in tow.
Of course, everyone is back for another series but playing different roles with the same temperament. Cheryl is still rich and remarkably crazy while Pam seems like someone who ends up working with Sterling as his strong hand.
Coma Story for Season 8?
The title of the upcoming season is "Dreamland" which could indicate that everything could be a Sterling's dream. (Warning: spoilers) for those who follow the series, Sterling ends up heads down in a blood pool. He could be in a coma and everything that happened in season eight is just a dream.
It's also worth noting that series creator Adam Reed is planning to end the series after season 10. This means there will be another season where Sterling comes back and deal with seemingly endless hilarious yet deadly problems.
