NBA Injury Report: Sixers expects Ben Simmons to be able to play this season

The Sixers and fans keep their hope high to see Ben Simmons debut his performance on the court before the season ends. However, even though is recovery has showed a significant progress, but the 76ers head coach Brett Brown tried to keep things steady first.

Coach Brown does not want to commit a timetable for Simmons’ debut performance, according to SLAM. Although he is optimistic to see the recovery progress, but coach Brown will not take unnecessary risk to put him on court too soon.

Philadelphia 76ers has to hold its hope to return to elite team in this 2016-17 season. After selecting the versatile 6’10 forward in as the first pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, fans have been waiting to see him on court. Ben Simmons jersey has been the Top-10 best sellers of the NBA jersey with Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, LeBron James and other superstars.

Unfortunately, fans and the Sixers had to put their hope on hold when Simmons broke his foot on Oct. 1 during training camp in New Jersey. He suffered a fracture in his metatarsal bone and had to undergo surgery with long recovery.

In the recent development, the doctor found that his broken foot hasn’t fully recovered. According to Philadelphia Inquirer, the latest CT scan result on Jan. 23 showed his foot has not completely healed.

Sixers president Bryan Colangelo said on Thursday, Feb. 16 to explain of the situation. He said that the Sixers management completely trust the doctors who monitor Simmons recovery and his rehabilitation program.

"His next CT scan is scheduled for February 23,” Colangelo said with hope to see the good result. “Ben's long-term health remains our primary concern."

Recently, Philadelphia 76ers has played without its main center Joel Embiid who suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee. Prior to the diagnore, Embiid experienced a swollen and sore in his left knee. Following an MRI scan, doctors found a minor tear in his meniscus.
