"This Is Us" will delve deeper into Jack's past in the remaining episodes of Season 1. The NBC drama has cast Mob City actor Jeremy Luke to play a role in the upcoming storyline.

According to Deadline, Luke has signed on to play one of Jack's best friends growing up. His character, Darryl, is described as a sweet blue collar kid who idolizes Jack. No word yet on when Luke's episode will first air, but the site reports that he will be seen in a recurring basis.

Luke's casting comes after "This Is Us" has revealed a romantic past between Rebecca and Ben on its most recent outing. Jack was shocked to learn about his wife's decision to keep her history with Ben, pushing him to forbid Rebecca to go on a tour.

"This Is Us" fans already know that Jack eventually dies during Kevin, Kate and Randall's teenage years. However, details about Jack's past including his failed marriage with Rebecca are still left to be explained. As the series nears its season finale, it makes sense that they are introducing someone from Jack's past to give viewers a deeper understanding about the character.

Luke's other credits include "Sully," "Don Jon," and "Jersey Boys." He joins a slew of featured guest cast on This Is Us season 1 including Katie Couric, Jimmi Simpson, Dennis O'Hare, Amanda Leighton, Amanda Warren and Brian Tyree Henry.

Starring Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia, "This Is Us" is a dramedy featuring a unique ensemble of characters all born on the same day. Sterling K. Brown, Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, Susan Kelechi Watson, and Ron Cephas Jones also star.

The show's upcoming episode will find Randall and William taking a road trip to Memphis, where Randall learns about his biological father's past. Details of the episode titled "Memphis" was shared by The Futon Critic.

The episode is slated to air on Tuesday, Feb. 21 on NBC.
