The midseason 7 premier of "The Walking Dead" got everybody wondering the real deal with the new group that somehow got Rick smiling. Executive producer Greg Nicotero hinted that Rick might be thinking he has found his army in this weird bunch. Meanwhile, some reports reveal that this new team is weirder than fans initially expect.

Fans were excited for "The Walking Dead" midseason 7 premier, but were left with cliffhangers, twists, and turns. One of the biggest teasers is the weirdly dressed new group that has Rick Frimes smiling in the end. Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick, revealed that there will be an episode that will somehow look like a mix of "Evil Dead," "Hellraiser," and "Mad Max," Cinema Blend reported.

The cast of the show calls this 80s-post-apocalyptic-looking bunch as the "Heapsters." Meanwhile, fans refer to them as the "Garbage Pail Kids," ComicBook reported. the "Mad Max" and "Hellraiser" themes are obvious in the preview footage, but the "Evil Dead" part could mean some of the new character might have their own "Boom Stick" or chainsaw for hands.

It seems that finally, Rick has seen people who are not part of Negan's group, which is what he needs now to defeat the bat-swinging megalomaniac. The Survivors will need all the help they can get if they plan to eliminate the Saviors. Lincoln also hinted that the new group will be tagging along with his team for a while.

The show has only six episodes left, and it would be least likely that creators will bring a one-off episode. It means the next few episodes left would definitely be leading to the shows ending, Lincoln said. There are no confirmed reports, however, if Negan will die in this season.

One thing is for sure though; that the new group is not the Whisperers. The term "Heapsters" refer to the fact that they are living on heaps of trash seen at the end of "Rock in the Road." The junkyard story is not found in the comic book version of the show and is created exclusively for the TV series. Adding up story line for the television is common in the AMC series.
