"Haven" actress Emily Rose joins the cast of the yet-untitled Marc Cherry Southern drama from ABC Studios. She has booked a series regular role opposite "Malibu Country" actress Reba McEntire.
According to Deadline, Rose will play the County Coroner named Vonda Jean for the small town Oxblood, KY. Her character is a former pageant runner-up. In addition to McEntire, she joins previously cast "Heroes Reborn" actor Jack Coleman (Deke Adair), "Righteous Kill" actress Saidah Ekulona (Velma Winemiller), "The Morning After" actor Ben Esler (Hollis), and "Granite Mountain" actress Natalie Hall (Jennifer).
McEntire's character Ruby Adair in the untitled Marc Cherry drama is the sheriff of Oxblood, Variety reported. She is challenged when a young Federal Bureau Investigation agent of Middle Eastern descent asks for her help in solving a dreadful crime. With an uneasy alliance, she guides the agent in the Southern gothic community to bump into various bizarre characters, who have their own secrets as well.
Cherry is writing the untitled ABC pilot, which marks his return from his creation "Desperate Housewife" and McEntire after her sitcom "Malibu Country" as well. Both he and McEntire will serve as executive producers, along with his producing long-time partner Sabrina Wind under their Cherry-Wind Productions banner. Mindy Schultheis and Michael Hanel of Acme Productions are also executive producing with ABC Studios producing.
The untitled ABC's Marc Cherry drama also marks the first drama pilot that the Disney-owned network ordered for 2017 and 2018. It was picked up last year's December after a bidding war among multiple networks. Another ABC-ordered pilot includes the Kenya Barris and Vijal Patel's political family comedy "Libby & Malcolm," which starred "Desperate Housewives" actress Felicity Huffman and "Law & Order" actor Courtney B. Vance.
Rose is commonly known as Audrey Parker in Syfy's "Haven" for five seasons. She is represented by Domain, Forward Management, and attorney David Fox.
