Dallas Mavericks is cleaning up their roster as they waive the veteran point guard Deron Williams. Due to the Mavs rebuilding process, they are planning to pull a young core lineup as they agreed to a contract buyout with Williams. Having said, the Cavaliers are now on the chase to sign the point guard to add depth from the bench.
According to the ESPN, the Mavericks has just released Deron Williams last Thursday and the report shows that several teams are in the mix, including the hiring Cleveland Cavaliers to sign the former All-Star point guard.
Following the announcement made by the Mavericks of Williams' departure, the Mavs will have to pay him the remaining $10 million contract that he signed during the NBA off-season once the buyout is inked.
As the 32-year old All-Star point guard is leaving the Mavs as a free agent, Deron Williams is reportedly looking to sign with the Cavaliers. Aside from the Cavs, the Utah Jazz and the Hawks expressed their interest to acquire Williams.
As a Dallas native, Williams is currently averaging more than 13 points per contest along with 7 dishes in every 29 minutes of action. The Mavericks are obviously working out the newly discovered point guard Yogi Ferrell the guy shows improvement and development.
On the other hand, as Williams confirmed his commitment to sign with the Cavaliers, the defending NBA champion is also choosing between, Derrick Williams, Larry Sanders and Andrew Bogut. The Cavaliers will only have one slot remaining once D-Will signed with them and needs to choose wisely between the 3 aspiring full-time members of their team.

LeBron James and his crew are in search of a great rebounder, a contributor not only in the offense, but the one who can protect the paint. Bogut is a great low-post defender, Larry Sanders has been compared to Dennis Rodman due to his looks and his paint-protection skill, while Williams, he seemed to be a good contributor to the team, still any of the three would fit, but only the Cavaliers know who's the best for them.
