The New Orleans Pelicans are bringing back Reggie Williams as the team is about to sign him to another 10-day contract. With regard to this move, the Pelicans also waived newly acquired, yet injured Omri Casspi in order to have a new spot in their current roster.
According to the ESPN, Reggie Williams will be replacing Omri Casspi, who is currently suffering from a broken thumb last Thursday night during his debut with the Pelicans. This is the second time that the Pelicans will give Williams another shot with a 10-day contract, as several basketball analysts said, the Pelicans will need to decide whether they will sign Williams for the rest of the season after his new short contract with the team.
Recently, Reggie Williams has become a part of the Pelicans as he was signed on his first 10-day contract back in December 10th, 2016. Williams was waived after playing five games with the team to give way to Donatas Motiejunas last January 1st.
As per the Bleacher Report, it's been a roller coaster ride for some of the players who have been part of numerous trade. Several teams are pulling and pushing some of their players as each team are preparing for the Playoffs, while some are prepping for their future.
Omri Casspi was sent to the Pelicans along with the ex-Kings superstar DeMarcus Cousins. Their debut is not quite a big hit as they were being dumped by the Rockets with a huge margin.
With frustrations, Cousins said in an interview that it was an unfortunate situation for his teammate. He cited that Casspi's break is falling away due to the latest injury, resulting in the team to release him and replace with a healthy one.
Omri Casspi has been a great bench performer in his NBA career. The guy is a reliable 3-point shooter and can provide enough shade to the perimeter. Casspi's NBA career is far from over, though he was waived by the Pelicans, his injury timetable is until April 15th and once his waiver is cleared, he can sign with any team he wishes in the off-season.
