Former Beast members have decided to promote with a new name than to wait for the dispute with Cube Entertainment to end. The team's new agency which they also own, Around Us Entertainment recently announced that the 5 members will now be called Highlight.
It can be recalled that late last year, the Beast members - Yoon Doo Joon, Yong Jun Hyung, Lee Kikwang, Yang Yoseob and Son Dong Woon did not renew their contracts with Cube Entertainment. The five went on to build their own company and called it Around US Entertainment.
Since then, they have been doing activities under the new management. However, their departure from Cube has one created one huge problem and this is the fact they cannot bring their name with them as the agency registered the name BEAST for official trademark rights.
The five members tried to negotiate with Cube but it is taking time, plus there were recent rumors that the company is planning to create a new group and let them use the title. Based on speculations, They had tried to come to an agreement with Cube to continue using "Beast," however, their former agency had announced plans to relaunch Beast as a three-member group with Jang and two other new members on Feb. 10.
It seems that the talks are not going anywhere at the moment and the members want to begin promotion already. In the end, the former Beast members chose to start anew with a new name. They will be releasing a new album soon, entitled "Highlight." This title will also serve as the group's new name, OSEN reported.
The sixth member, Jang Hyun Seung, left Beast in April 2016 and started his own activities. Although he went solo, Hyun Seung renewed his contract and stayed with Cube.
According to Billboard, after the group announced their new name, all the members updated their social media accounts to confirm the news. They also thanked the fans for loving them and at the same time, they asked that fans continue to support them as Highlight.
Finally, leader Doo Joon, also stressed that they really want to continue using Beast but they apparently failed to negotiate with Cube. He added that their group has a lot of memories as Beast and they fought to keep it. It was hard to let it go but they have no choice so it is goodbye to the name and a welcome to the new one which is Highlight.
