Hollywood actor Daniel Craig, best known for playing James Bond, will be in India next month.
The reason for Craig's visit is not a film, but a charity football match that is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on June 11. The 48-year-old actor will be the star attraction at the charity football game, which will be played between Bollywood celebrities and politicians.
Craig recently joined hands with Italian activist, Ambassador, and DPR of the Permanent Mission of Sao Tome'& Principe to the United Nations (UN) Angelo Antonio Toriello, who launched the Humanicy campaign.
Toriello's Humanicy project, which aims to highlight the role of culture, arts, and humanities in shaping diplomacy, is organizing the charity football match. The diplomat invited the Spectre actor to be a part of the star-studded event.
Daniel Craig, who was chosen by the UN as a global advocate for the elimination of mines and explosive hazards in March, will arrive in Delhi on June 10 and spend two days in the city.
"Considering Daniel Craig's contribution to the social cause, he is keen to lend support to our initiatives," Toriello said, during a recent visit to Mumbai to oversee arrangements for the charity event. "We have already approached him and sounded him about the gala. He has evinced a desire to visit India. We are giving him an occasion to lend support to our causes. We are hopeful that he will be able to be there for the gala."
The Bollywood team will include the likes of Ranbir Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Arjun Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Dino Morea, Aditya Roy Kapur, Kartik Aaryan and Bunty Walia whereas the politicians' team will comprise of Minister of State for Urban Development, Babul Supriyo, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari along with MPs from other states.
