The hit CW series, "Vampire Diaries" has finally concluded after 8 successful seasons. The show ended on March 10 with the final episode called, "My Epic Ending," which happened to be epic since the producers have managed to bring back the character of Elena (Nina Dobrev) back to life.
According to Deadline, the show's ending kind of hinted that a spin-off is about to take place. However, executive producers of the "Vampire Diaries" said that they have no plans as of the moment of going that route. They have some ideas but they want to make it clear for everyone who has followed the show that it is completely over.
It would also make sense since the series finale gave out some closure like the characters are finally safe in Mystic Falls. Characters like Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) were then reunited in the end. It was a rough part for Stefan, as he needed to make himself as a sacrifice and fans have always wondered if he would ever reconcile with Damon.
Luckily, the show didn't end on a cliffhanger in terms of that part along with Elena's return. Although her being in medical school and alive again, as if nothing happened was kind of questionable if the story has to really end that way.
In an interview with Collider, executive producer Julie Plec has confirmed that they are leaving the story as it is and fans shouldn't hope for another run. It has been a fun 8 seasons for everybody and she admits that she has been crying for months after finding out that they have to conclude it this season.
The cast was also sad after reading the final script. Everyone couldn't help but be emotional about it since they have been working with each other for a long time now.
