A very popular anime in recent memory is going to make a forceful comeback this year. "Eureka Seven" returns as a movie trilogy with a brand new film debuting every year this year.
New 'Eureka Seven' Announced
Anime production company Bones recently announced, to the delight of its fans, that it's going to return to the world of "Eureka Seven." According to Crunchy Roll, the upcoming iteration of the popular anime will be in the form of a three-part movie series. But even though it will deviate from the original anime series format, the upcoming movie series will feature the same people behind the success of the original series.
For the unfamiliar, "Eureka Seven" is a mecha-themed anime set in the futuristic world with the story revolving around Renton Thurston and Eureka. Together they journey through various missions as they become pilots of powerful robots out to save their world. The series ran for 50 episodes with a manga follow-up and sequel titled "Eureka Seven: AO."
Trilogy Prequel?
Otaku Mode also revealed the posters of the upcoming trilogy with the title "Eureka Seven: Hi Evolution." Eureka is the featured character this year while with Anemone in 2018 and Renton for 2019. While it merely introduces the characters in the anime movie, there might be a reason why Eureka was chosen as the first featured character.
The upcoming movie will reportedly cover the events before Eureka and Renton meet. The storyline of the first film will be based on an epic event in the anime's storyline called "First Summer of Love." If Bones follows the story of the powerful event, then Renton might not be in the first film at all.
Although Bones announced the first movie will be released in 2017, the company hasn't set the date yet. Renton, Eureka and the rest of the crew is back one film at a time until 2019.
