Descendants of the Sun actress Kim Ji-won attracted up to 1,000 Chinese fans on Saturday, May 21 as she attended an autograph-signing event in Beijing, her agency revealed on Thursday, May 27.
The event was organized by a certain fashion brand the actress is endorsing. She actively reenacted some of her famous lines from South Korean TV series Descendants of the Sun and posted for photos with her fans, the King Kong Entertainment revealed.
"I heard some of you came from very far away, which deeply impressed me. I hope today will remain a happy memory for you," she said.
Descendants of the Sun has achieved immense popularity not only in South Korea but also in China as well as other Asian countries. Its first season, which ran between February 24 and April 14, was simultaneously aired on South Korea's cable network KBS 2TV and China's broadcasting and video sharing platform iQiyi.
Kim portrays the character of the Yun Myeong-ju who is an Army doctor that fell in love with Yoo Si-jin's (Song Joong-ki) right hand Seo Dae-young (Jin Goo).
Kim Ji-won was not the only member of the Descendants of the Sun cast to visit China recently. Song Joong-ki also visited Chinese cities Wuhan and Beijing as part of his 2016 Asia Tour Fan Meeting.
During each visit, the actor surprised his fans. In Beijing, many were impressed with his Chinese speaking abilities, while in Wuhan, he spoke the local dialect.
