It has been confirmed that actor Robert Downey Jr. famous for his role as Tony Stark in "Iron Man" will be taking in a new role in his lifetime as he is set to play "Dr. Dolittle" in an upcoming film based on the creations of Hugh Lofting.
It can be recalled that "Dr. Dolittle" is a story about a doctor that is able to talk to the animals that he lives with. The "Iron Man" actor, Robert Downey Jr. will follow in the footsteps of actors Rex Harrison and Eddie Murphy who have played the role in previous franchises. The movie is based on the set of books written by Hugh Lofting back in the 1920s, however unclear if the upcoming film will have the setting of in the same timeline of its creation.
According to The Guardian, the film will be written and directed by Stephen Gaghan who won an Oscar award for his creation of "Traffic." The first film of "Dr. Dolittle" was praised for the portrayal of Rex Harrison of the story's protagonist, even picked up for an Oscar nomination. Eddie Murphy then followed the portrayal of the character in 1998 which was definitely a big success.
With RDJ playing a lead role in another movie, it only sparked up rumors of him no longer taking the role of Iron Man in the upcoming "Iron Man 4" film. However, it has already been confirmed that filming of the movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe has already begun and the actor already hinted of the movie in his appearance at the "Ellen DeGeneres Show," as reported by Starz Post.
Now, Robert Downey Jr. will take a break from his role of superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Iron Man, one of the world's favourite superheroes. He will soon be playing the role of a physician in a movie for kids.
