The mobile industry is about to have another flagship phone courtesy of Andy Rubin. The Android Mobile OS co-founder recently teased an image of their upcoming mobile device believed to offer significant niche in the industry.

Featured flagship phones often come from large mobile phone manufacturers such as Apple and Samsung. But when the co-founder of the most popular mobile OS teases his brand of flagship device, the tech industry listens. After all, it's not every day the founder of an extremely powerful mobile OS releases a phone designed by his company.

Andy Rubin recently teased his upcoming device through his tweet according to Engadget. Not much is revealed - only the upper right of the device is seen featuring only the battery information, time and network coverage while the rest is covered by the hand.

As of now, not much is known about the upcoming device. Rubin's company, Essential Products Inc., plans to offer devices that could be streamlined and connected with minimal effort. There are also reports of wireless charging and a different take of Apple's 3D touch input.

A Version of Xiaomi Mi MIX?

According to Android Authority, the teaser image from Rubin's post looks like Xiaomi Mi MIX phone. The device is a bezel-less smartphone featuring some of the best hardware in the industry: 6GB RAM, 16MP camera with up to 256GB in storage powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821. Of course, these are specs of another device but considering Rubin's plan to take on the mobile phone industry, anything less poses a big challenge in the market.

Andy Rubin's upcoming mobile phone is expected to challenge the current flagship smartphones today. Although there's no expected date of release, it is expected that the first flagship device from Android co-founder should be available before the end of the year.
