It has been confirmed that "American Horror Story" season 7 storyline will be inspired by the recent American elections, although not necessarily in mockery of the National event. However, recent reports have claimed that the said theme might just be put on hold for now.
Actress, Sarah Paulson who has been confirmed to return as still the lead to the "American Horror Story" season 7 alongside Evan Peters. When caught during red carpet of the show's PaleyFest over the weekend, Paulson was asked about the show's storyline which was inspired by the recent presidential race. However, Fuse TV reported that Murphy is leaning into stating or featuring what is not obvious as to not give the audience what they are expecting.
Paulson said that it is probably not what like others have assumed, and is not necessarily centred on the political aspect of it. According to Entertainment News Online, people naturally assumed that Paulson will be playing Hilary Clinton immediately, since it is going to be themed with the presidential elections. Yet, Ryan Murphy himself debunked these speculations himself and said "I wanted to clarify that that is not true."
It has then been clarified that having the election or the presidential race as a theme of the upcoming "American Horror Story" season seven should only be taken as symbolism, and not literally the turn of events for the show. The night of the election has been one of the most iconic and confusing time for all the Americans, and there is no better way to work its way around it than to put some horror into the night and what could happen after that.
Ran Murphy also elaborated how "American Horror Story" season 7 will be about the recent presidential election and what the Americans have gone through. Freak Show characters have also been teased to return in the upcoming season with deeper histories and mythologies. That and more will be expected to happen in the new season, set to be released soon.
