Chapter 209 of Shokugeki no Soma will be unveiling the face and name of the new member of the Central's Elite Ten along with a glimpse of Satoshi Isshiki's true cooking prowess.
Spoilers for Shokugeki no Soma chapter 209 show Isshiki pitted against a chef coming from another revered cooking pedigree. Shirotsu Julio filled in the seat vacated by former Elite Ten member Isshiki following Azami Nakiri's takeover.
According Erina Nakiri, Isshiki's opponent is hailed from the Shirotsu Family, who is known for producing chefs for the Italian embassy. Moreover, Julio seems to have an advantage in their cook-off because the theme is Unagi, which is a dish in Europe.
Below are the spoilers for Chapter 209 (H/T MNS):
- Isshiki, who is carefully observing Soma's cooking, says that Soma is relaxed and is doing a good job thus far.
- One of the new Elite Ten: "Stop that crap and concentrate on your own cooking!" And his face is finally revealed. He apparently looks pretty old and lame
- Isshiki: And you are?
His name is Shirotsu Julio (Please note that Shirotsu may not be correct.) and he is disappointed that Isshiki doesn't know him.
- Their theme is "Unagi" Julio is motivated to win this battle so Isshiki will remember his name.
Erina's analysis on Julio: The Shirotsu Family is a well-known family and they are the chefs for the Italian embassy.
- Takumi states that Unagi is a major dish in Europe, so he predicts that Isshiki will struggle against him. Meanwhile, Alice says that Isshiki is wearing a Kimono, so he must be good with Japanese food
- But Kurokiba says Unagi is challenging to cook, so much that there is a phrase "Three years are needed for the acquisition of the skewering skills, Eight years for the striping ones, and the whole life time for the broiling skills " to highlight the difficulties.
- Isshiki takes out the Unagi and starts to cook, but he then says that if he were to lose this battle, it actually wouldn't be a bad idea to become an Unagi breeder. There are apparently ways to breed them in a Green house.
- Julio is livid that Isshiki is taking this battle so lightly. His plan was to horn his skills together with Isshiki at Central, so he can't understand why Isshiki switched sides. Then, Julio starts to insult Isshiki for being a failure to his family, but Isshiki still acts concerned.
- Julio continues, saying that Isshiki lost his 7th seat because he always skips classes to work at his farm, and that it's a disgrace as a member of the Isshiki family to be friendly with the Polar Star Dorm students, but then Isshiki quietly rages "Why won't you be quiet for a second"
Isshiki starts to cook the Unagi, showing authority, which surprises even Kurokiba. Soma realizes that Isshiki wasn't even half serious the last time they battled
- Isshiki: Alright, I have made my decision. I think I will destroy you mercilessly!
The food war between the Rebels and the Central's Elite Ten is getting more and more intriguing. While Soma is in the middle of a Soba-theme battle against traditional Japanese art master Nene Kinukuni, Isshiki-Shirutso dynamic is adding more flair to the competition.
