Nam Ji Hyun has been confirmed to play the female lead role of an upcoming SBS drama. Previously titled "Be Careful of this Woman," the former 4Minute will star in "Suspicious Partner" with Ji Chang Wook.
A previous report of Soompi cited the lead role was initially offered to Lee Sung Kyung following the success of her recent drama "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo." SBS even said the model-turned-actress is among their potential candidates for the character.
However, the agency revealed Nam Ji Hyun as the leading lady of Ji Chang Wook in "Suspicious Partner" on Wednesday. Simultaneously, it announced the new title of the upcoming series.
Allkpop reported Ji Chang Wook will play as a talented investigator, while Nam Ji Hyun will take the role of a prosecutor trainee. Their lives will get entangled after a criminal threatened to kill them.
Nam Ji Hyun recently appeared in "Shopaholic Louis" as the female lead of Seo In Guk. Despite debuting as an idol, she has been getting praises for her talent in acting.
Actor Jung Woo Sung, co-founder of her current agency Artist Company, even commended the former 4Minute member for her passion and hardwork. "A person who has big dreams about acting," he described her.
He continued, "She has a great passion for her work. This may be a great opportunity for her, but also a great deal of pressure. What will be important is how she overcomes that pressure."
Meanwhile, Nara has been casted to join Nam Ji Hyun and Ji Chang Wook for the upcoming SBS series. The Hello Venus member will play as the latter's ex-lover and a prosecutor who will be reinstated in Korea from studying abroad.
Aside from the initial casting, nothing has been revealed about "Suspicious Partner" which will take over the time slot of "Saimdang, Light's Story" every Wednesday and Thursday starting May.
