Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach paid a visit to victims of the earthquake in Ecuador oveer the weekend, according to Unang Balita on Monday.
The Filipina beauty went to Guayaquil and Machala to oversee Red Cross' relief efforts and join the "Casita De Mis Seunos" fundraiser to raise money for Ecuadorian kids.
The beauty queen also asked the public's continued support for relief effort, saying "We still need your help. Hundreds of people lost their lives and thousands more are suffering now. Yes, emergency relief is always first priority but I hope we can continue efforts in rebuilding."
"Just because it's not all over the news doesn't mean that the suffering is over," she continued.
Wurtzbach recalled her personal experiences as a volunteer in the Philippines whenever the country is struck by calamities.
"I myself have volunteered back in the Philippines numerous times and on site. So I know the impact of a calamity like this to the people. If you can, please take some time to visit the Red Cross website to donate. A little will go a long way!" she explained.
On April 16, Ecuador was shaken by a 7.8-magnitude earthquake. Up to 600 died from the incident and at least 12,492 people were injured. Most of the deaths came from the towns Manta, Portoviejo and Pedernales, which are near the coastal area.
